We are extremely delighted to announce that our Action Chair Clarisse Berthezène was appointed senior member of the Institut universitaire de France as of 1 October 2023.

Furthermore, she joins as a visiting scholar the prestigious Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies at Harvard University from September 2023 to June 2024. There, she is pursuing her new research project on health inequity among women in Europe. By focusing on two case studies (Manchester and Lille) and examining data from 1870s to the present, her work seeks to understand the historical dynamics that contribute to large discrepancies in mortality rates and life expectancy for women.

As Prof. Berthezène affirms, her new project is also the result of the collective research pursued within our Cost Action “Who Cares in Europe?”.
